BAAF has become an established autumn diary date in the ancient art world. Once again, top international dealers in classical, Egyptian, and Near Eastern antiquities come together in the genteel atmosphere of the Wenkenhof – an elegant baroque residence in Riehen on the outskirts of Basel.
BAAF’s quota of leading world specialists makes it not only the largest, but also the most important fair of its kind under one roof. All participants are members of the International Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA) and follow a strict code of ethics concerning the authenticity and provenance of the objects they sell. This year brings 15 participants to the Wenkenhof.
Our dedication to quality is evident not only in the objects, but also in the choice of location. The Reithalle Wenkenhof provides a suitably impressive backdrop to the antiquities on display, and is surrounded by a rolling park in the English style – a picture of autumnal russets and browns that invites you for a gentle stroll. Lunch or a refreshment at the BAAF Bistro completes the experience.

The easiest way to get to Reithalle Wenkenhof in Riehen is by public transport. A special BAAF shuttle service runs from the ‘Bettingerstrasse’ tram stop to the main gate of the park, from where it is a pleasant stroll to the exhibition hall. The next shuttle stop brings you closer to the entrance of the fair, and may be the preferred option in bad weather. Limited parking facilities are available near the main gate. (see also route.)
Die Basel Ancient Art Fair hat sich im internationalen Messekalender etabliert. Erneut versammelt die BAAF renommierte internationale Händler auf dem Gebiet der klassischen, ägyptischen und nahöstlichen Antike im eleganten Ambiente des Wenkenhofs, einer prachtvollen Barock-Residenz in Riehen vor den Toren Basels.
Der Auftritt weltweit führender Spezialisten macht diese Messe nicht nur zur grössten, sondern auch zur wichtigsten ihrer Art unter einem Dach. Alle Teilnehmer sind Mitglieder der international Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA) und folgen einem strengen Ethik- Kodex bezüglich Echtheit und Provenienz ihrer Verkaufsobjekte. 15 Aussteller werden im November dem Wenkenhof wieder ihre Aufwartung machen.
Die BAAF hat von Beginn an grossen Wert auf hohe Qualität gelegt; nicht nur in Bezug auf die angebotenen Exponate und die fachliche Kompetenz, sondern auch bei der Wahl der Lokalität. So bietet die Reithalle Wenkenhof eine einmalige Kulisse für die Begegnung mit der Antike – eingebettet in eine weitläufige Gartenanlage im englischen Stil, welche zum Spazieren durch die herbstliche Umgebung lädt. Mit einem Lunch oder einer Erfrischung im BAAF Bistro können Sie Ihr Erlebnis kulinarisch abrunden. Mit Schweizer und mit Oberreinischer Museums-Pass ist Eintritt in der Messe frei.

Sie erreichen die Reithalle Wenkenhof am besten mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Ein spezieller BAAF Shuttle -Service bringt Sie von der Tramhaltestelle ‘Bettingerstrasse’ zum Haupttor des Parks, von wo aus Sie gemütlich zum Ausstellungsgebäude spazieren können. Falls Sie es vorziehen, näher zur Messehalle gebracht zu werden, fahren Sie bis zur zweiten Haltestelle – diese Option empfiehlt sich besonders bei schlechter Witterung. ACTIVITES AVEC DES MUSEES PARTENAIRES
Pour la durée de la foire, les visiteurs de BAAF pourront utiliser leur billet d’entrée pour visiter plusieurs expositions se tenant dans la région.
L’Antikenmuseum Basel und Sammlung Ludwig; un musée de premier plan pour l’archéologie classique et égyptienne. Entrée libre pour le musée.
La Fondation Beyeler; Musée renommé pour ses collections d’art moderne et contemporain situé à Riehen. Droits d’entrée réduits.
C’est par les transports publics que l’on accède le plus aisément au Manège du Wenkenhof à Riehen. Un service spécial de navettes BAAF partira de l’arrêt du bus “Bettingerstrasse”.
Il vous conduira à votre guise, soit jusqu‘à l’entrée principale du parc, d’où vous pourrez rejoindre le lieu d’exposition par une promenade, soit jusqu‘à l’arrêt suivant, tout proche de l’entrée de la Foire, cette dernière option étant celle que nous vous conseillons en cas de mauvais temps. Des places de parking seront disponibles à côté de l’entrée principale.
